We all know of the recent massive earthquake that took place in Chile and the continuing aftershocks that register above 5.0. We also know of the massive coronal discharge emitted by the Sun just before the earthquake in Chile hit. Witnesses have stated on record that they had seen the sky change color just prior to the earthquake, which would suggest the magnetosphere of our Earth was being bombarded by this coronal discharge, or "filament". Here is a SOHO snapshot of the Sun during the massive filament discharge. The two white arrows shows the filament start position and end position.
